Pinup on a budget!

If you’re anything like me then you are completely in love with the pinup style, either it is the fashion or the lifestyle. I’m in love with both and that takes an enormous bite of my economy! I love how I feel wearing nice clothes, fixing my hair and makeup, but the fashion is expensive! Some brands you have to save for months to afford! And that’s only for one pair of clothing! This will not do! So I’ve collected a few tips on where to look and which brands to keep an eye on to get that perfect vintage look while on a budget!

Rock’n’Bowley
The cutest shop on the web! Miss Atomic Georgie sells the nicest things to a nice affordable price. If you need some cute accessories this si the place to visit! She has mid-century inspired items as well as true vintage items to a smiley price that makes your jewelry box happy and your bank account still breathing. And if you’re lucky you might come across one of her special sales to get an extra discount – but be warned, they wont last for long so grab your items while you can!

Take a look in your local shops! I would love to wear those lovely hawaii-inspired flowers that all the pretty pinup girls wear, but they cost too much and living in Norway shipping and taxes makes them way to expensive and not worth the value. So I buy all my flowers at Glitter. They don’t cost much, my most expensive hairflower cost me about €9.00, the hair donuts start at €4.00 and give you that nice touch on your updo, paired with some hairflowers your hairstyle will be pinup style worthy!

Glitter also have nice earrings and necklaces that match your cute pinup wardrobe. I feel that if it’s edible then Pinups want it. Ice cream earrings, apple necklace etc. In Norway Glitter has a whole line of cute summer food jewelries. And they cost you almost nothing! If you pay €9.00 you can get a set with as much as 8 different earrings to match your outfits!

If you research the vintage fashion and take a look at our trends and fashion today you will notice that a lot of the prints and styles have come back, and many items can be adjusted to seem a bit more vintage than they are. I bought my new flower print top(pictures above) from H&M for only €11.00, now with a little imagination and adjustment this top looks exactly like something they would wear in the late 40’s on vacation. Don’t you think the picture on the right resembles Marilyn Monroes style a little? See? Easy and cheap, and the tops looks nice without the knot aswell.

So research the style and era a little and go shopping in your local stores. H&M especially have a lot of 40’s and 60’s inspired fashion right now so you can get away with a real bargain. With skirts you should think swing! Knee-lenght, full circle skirts were big in the 50’s and goes well with the pinup style, pencil skirts as well, these must also be knee lenght for that authentic feel. With pants you should think high-waist, skinny fit, and capri’s in same style. Bik Bok has ome nice high-waist jeans at a cheap price right now.

Lady Vintage
My favorite brand of all time! The dresses are affordable and good quality! And if you’re lucky you can snag a bargain at their outlet section! The cheapest dress at the moment is €30.00, and including shipping costs this still comes under the tax border of Norway so you won’t have to worry about extra cost to collect your dress at the post office. They often have great weekend sales as well with 20% off their whole website, mostly at the end of the month during payday-weekend! And well we can all agree that that’s just wonderful! All their dresses are vintage inspired as well and compliment the pinup style that we’d love to have!

Happy Shopping ❤
